Welcome to Finley Experience

This website is dedicated to LGBT folks who are surviving in this crazy world.

What's good for one isn't necessarily good for another.

Attempting to control the hearts and souls of the masses through force and injustice only forces the seeds of dissension to grow. History has taught this lesson repeatedly. Perhaps, we'll learn the lesson this time.

Fall Break Over, KSCL 91.3 DJing and AROHO Grant

Wow. The with the passing of Fall Break the reality of being mid-way through my first semester of college has fully hit me. I'm not dreaming of being a college student. I am a college student. Ten years of waiting has paid off...I'm in school! And crazily, through going to school I have achieved my 12 year dream of becoming a radio DJ--through Centenary's student run radio station KSCL 91.3FM. Meanwhile, I have been steadily working on a grant proposal for A Room of Her Own Foundation. AROHO grant-gift is designed to help a woman writer to work on a project of scope, which has a community benefit. Keep your fingers, toes, legs and anything else crossed for me...this proposal is the first time I've ever applied for a grant and the deadline is fast approaching!

There is so much going on...with all of us...I hope that the dreams you have come to fruition. But remember, they wont just happen, you have to put forth the energy to make them come true. Never give up on a Dream. After all, it just might not be time yet!

91.3 FM KSCL Shreveport

Whoooaaaa!!!

What? Really? No way! Can you believe they are going to let me sit in front of a microphone surrounded by music? This might not seem like the biggest deal in the world, but if you know me by now, then you'll know some things are quite the "big deal." For instance, in 1996 I had an offer to work at 98X, which is simply the best job offer a 16 year old could recieve. Unfortunately, life and Murphy's Law prevented my working there. The result became my adolescent dream of being a DJ at a radio station. And my friends, as I've been telling you all along...DREAMS can come true. Patience, timing, and confidence can bring about anything truly desired!

Keep Dreaming Shreveport-Bossier City! And Keep Dreaming World!

Listen to 91.3 KSCL for progressive radio!

Centenary College of Louisiana

Holy Shit Batman! I'm in. They actually let me in the campus doors. What were they thinking? I guess it's a good thing I like to learn! So, keep checking for updates...including, but not limited to formal papers I may be required to write.

Centenary College

Wow. After I got out of the Navy I really doubted I'd ever be able to go to college. And yet, here I am on the very edge of being a college freshman. It only took one decade longer than most of my high school friends, lol. I just have to be different! I'm excited.

Slightly Bitter

I'm just slightly bitter when it comes to people right now. Between the let downs, those who use their friends, and the inhumanity that seems abundant where humans are concerned: I'm beginning to think becoming a hermit has a certain zesty appeal which can't be found else where.

Talk About Craziness

I absolutely can't wait for the day when I can bust loose with all the things I've been holding back. Self-censorship is a real bitch. One of the things I miss about the Navy is being able to cuss out stupid fuckers. I risked demotion, EMI, Captain's Mast and the Old Man's punishments, but at least I still had my job after telling off someone when they needed it. This private sector puritanical language can be considered nothing less than an affront to FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Politically Correct language requirements are ILLEGAL: as in assualting an American citizens Constitutional Rights. Saying FUCK is not a crime. I might not want to hear foul language, I might not appreciate being cussed out, but I recognize my fellow citizens rights to speech. I'm warning the entire planet...watch the fuck out, there's going to be a day when some stupid fuck is an asshole at just the wrong moment and I'm going to say the hell with this private-sector-politically-correct-self-censorship-whimpy-ass-bullshit-fascist-regime-corporate-sponsered-stupidity. And I'm going to cuss like the sailor I used to be at the fool who crossed me at just the wrong time. I wont get violent, no, I'll carry my suddenly burdenless bucket of cuss words out the front door, leaving a trail of spectators murmuring in my pissed off dust.

Senator Vitter Returned my E-Mail Regarding a Constitutional Amendment Banning Flag Burning

Senator Vitter responded to my letter regarding the horrendous thought of a constitutional amendment regarding flag desecration. Read his response below. Unfortunately, I sent my letter using the senator's website and forgot to save a copy. For the record: I am AGAINST a constitutional amendment banning flag burning. Flag burning is a form of expression and is protected by the First Amendment. I am for protecting the Constitution and an amendment banning flag burning would be a direct assault on the Constitution.

The Response:

"Dear Ms. Finley,

Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to a constitutional amendment to ban desecration of the U.S. flag. I appreciate hearing your views on this important issue.

In 1968, Congress passed the Flag Protection Act, which prohibited flag desecration to prevent those protesting the conflict in Vietnam from burning the American flag for which our soldiers were fighting and dying. This Act was upheld by federal and state courts for twenty years. However, in 1989 and 1990 the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in two separate cases that burning the American flag during a political protest is constitutionally protected free speech (Texas v. Johnson and United States v. Eichman).

Since the Supreme Court's rulings in 1989 and 1990, each Congress has considered a constitutional amendment to empower Congress to protect the physical integrity of the American flag. Under the First Amendment to the Constitution, every American has a right to free speech. However, I do not believe that this freedom can be extended to the act of burning the American flag. The American flag is a symbol of hard-won freedoms, including the freedom of speech. The act of burning the flag shows a lack of respect for the men and women who have died to make the United States of America what it is today. Unfortunately, I must respectfully disagree with you on this issue.

Thank you again for contacting me, and please feel free to contact me in the future about issues important to you.

Sincerely,

Senator David Vitter
United States Senator"

(NOTE: Thanks Senator Vitter for standing up to protect the rights of the citezenry, with congressional dipshits like you who needs terrorists?)

Random Thought for the Day: Grandma's 75th

Every one should have a Little Bacon Bastard from Fatboy's Bar and Grill for their 75th birthday. Remember to hold the cheese if you're lactose intolerant. The burger comes with lettuce, a fried green tomato, a pickle, onion rings and fries. Condiment packages served on the side. You can't beat the burger!

"Secrets" and "Pair of Jeans" 2 new poems on AC

Secrets

"Secrets" is about the concerns before publishing or reading a new poem, or speaking in front of a group; about the feelings involved with expressing trauma before an audience.

Pair of Jeans

"Pair of Jeans" is quick little happy poem. I haven't worn a pair of Levi's in over 10 years. And before today I never owned a brand new pair; we always got them from the thrift store.

Cameras Every Where

Random thought for the day:

Governments are trying to become like God/Goddess by installing cameras every where to keep an eye on the populace. Apparently, it isn't enough to say God/Goddess knows your every move, so behave. Now, the government says: we know your every move, here's your fine. I guess the threat of punishment in the afterlife is no longer a suitable threat. Now, the fear of punishment on earth must serve as governmental threat to keep citizens in line. Fortunately, citizens, I have never feared a camera. And I always say what I mean. So, here's my great big middle finger served up to cameras across the nation!

Treasury Secretary Paulson is a JACKASS

Once again I made the mistake of watching congress on CSPAN. What the hell was I thinking? Sec. Paulson wants a "blank check" of tax payer money set aside for Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac just in case the two GSE's go under. This pisses me all the way off. Government Sponsered Enterprises are being rescued by tax payer dollars, when average citizens are bankrupt. The CEO's of these GSE companies are millionaires. Quit paying the CEO's of failing businesses out of my pocket. Protest government bailouts! Protest the theft of tax dollars by the Secretary of Treasury who is using our money to help keep his big business buddies flying on their private jets!
