Global Conflict Discussion (Part 4): Trickle Down Hoarders

4.) "Trickle-down economics" is a flawed system; hoarders don't share; these concepts are diametric.
Trickle-down economics (TDE) evolved from centuries of political, religious, and scientific power-grabbing that hindered real progress by way of controlling the people's education and wages while reserving the largest bits of profitable knowledge for those deciding release dates (kings, robber barons, etc.). Modern TDE cannot long compete with rapid developments made by today's backyard scientists who have access to the internet and a healthy desire to experiment.
The Information Age arrived years ago and with it came P2P sharing and open sourcing. Instant knowledge and tools in the hands of the people (with internet access) effectively enabled internet-connected classes to learn whatever they choose, if they so choose. Unfettered free access learning effects backyard scientists by allowing every interested mind the opportunity to puzzle out the greatest quandaries of science. Think of the progress NASA has made with citizen scientists helping to crunch astronomical data.
The internet has also enabled nearly instant intercontinental communications whereby any two can work together irrespective of the distances between them. It turns out, we choose to share the silly and arbitrary as well as the serious and academic with our international internet peers. Through the 'net, we've also learned the sad truth of the worldwide phenomena of devastating affairs: the elite rarely trickle-down anything that doesn't involve a tangible (and significant) return on investment (ROI).
Trickle down has always been economic warfare against the impoverished masses. As we've seen dictators hoard food and financial aid while their malnourished people die of disease and starvation; governments murder their own citizens in the name of religion, science, injustice, security; corporations pay upper management ridiculous sums and pay workers a pittance then leach off taxpayers all while stuffing away billions; industrial waterworks destroy their own workers' drinking water; protesters barricade city streets where once tires, now fires. All the destruction, the loss of life makes us angry. Very angry. The righteous anger of our betrayal seethes under our collective skins. And, what do we do? Not a fucking thing, unless its a violent fucking thing.
I'm not naive. It comes down to violence because people are willing to defend themselves against attackers; they're willing to attack others over resources, posturing, or perceived insults; they're willing to provoke another into violent action; they're willing to stage atrocities to blame the "evil" other; and, they're willing to kill for X (money, power, religion, politics, love, hate). So, how do we balance the scales of wealth equality?
Some say, "force redistribution of wealth" while those with wealth hire bodyguards who scream, "just try it." Some say, "legislate the wealthy" meanwhile wealthy legislators vote "aye" for their own pay raises. Some say, "the markets will right themselves" all the while governments around the world tinker with the markets to maintain the status quo of rising inflation.
I don't care what some say: forced redistribution results in wealth fleeing the country; wealthy legislators have proven incapable of legislating themselves; it is impossible to know if a market will right itself as all markets have been tampered with by the governments that acknowledge them.
Here's a really simple truth: a company or person worth millions is a professional hoarder, those worth billions are master hoarders. The severity of their hoarding proves the unequal distributions of profits; if employees were paid more, profits would go down and the hoard would shrink. When the goal is to hoard profits, sharing is antithetical.

Global Conflict Discussion (Part 3): Scientific Process

3.) Scientific Process: a potential solution for fixing some of our problems, but not all.
The scientific process includes peer-review as a corrective measure. Peer review means that people of similar background (i.e., peers) examine each other's work (i.e., scientific processes) for errors and discoveries; then if possible, they repeat the work to verify the results. If the repeated work has repeated similar results, then the work is said to have passed peer-review. However, if the repeated work has vastly different results (or unobtainable results), then the work is said to have failed peer-review. Below are the steps involved in the Scientific Process, these steps are cyclic in that scientists repeat and refine based on prior results.

Historically speaking, governments, businesses, religions, and insanely egotistical wealthy individuals have been known to interfere in the peer-review process. Reasons differ, but it all amounts to squashing knowledge while encouraging ignorance in the name of profit-seeking. Scientists work from the shared knowledge accumulated by human beings who experimented within the fluctuating world of their own conflicted centuries. In other words, scientists only work with knowledge that has been officially released (or leaked) for peer-review. At the same time, the masses (the people) only work with the knowledge that has been peer-reviewed and accepted (or, leaked and denied) because that is all that is released by the scientific community and approved by education boards. Is this type of shit-rolls-downhill knowledge filtering what they mean by "trickle-down"?
Then, I think about today's scientists. And, today's amatuers. I think of the collabrative nature of the internet. I think of the open source and maker movements as proof that ingenuity and innovation come from attempting to answer tough questions. The scientific process and peer-review on the global scale afford the opportunity for improvement. Therein lies the risk, any opportunity for improvement must also be an opportunity for destruction. 2.) Nature destroying nature isn't "our problem." Between nature destroying us and us destroying us, it seems much wiser to prep today, for tomorrow the "Shit Hits The Fan" (SHTF).
Our problem. Could you imagine a world where "our problem" (a single problem) was even a possibility? Would that we could live in a one problem world. Eheu. We have PROBLEMS, that's capitalized and plural PROBLEMS. We have inherited an ever-changing environment (i.e. Earth) from ancestors who survived by putting their own immediate needs above the needs of unknown, unseen, future peoples (i.e., us). In some cases they did so maliciously, but most were likely just surviving that ever changing environment so that there could be a future - keep that in mind when debating current needs over future potential needs.
By weighing today's and tomorrow's respective needs before making decisions, we place each decision into a now-future context. Once the future arrives, that same decision will be viewed in a past-now context. To afford posterity the opportunity to understand our reasoning for either "throwing them under the bus" or "taking our due so that they wont have to" we have to imagine ourselves in both the now-future and the past-now contexts. In other words, imagine yourself in future-you's shoes.
If, both, future-you and current-you are happy with the future-potential reality, then the decision is weighed. The end result of that weighed decision will ultimately rely on the accuracy of your future-potential envisioning...so, if you're delusional, future-you may not be happy with the reality of past-you's decision. By blindly putting today's needs ahead of future potential needs we readily repeat ancestral mistakes. Consciously weighing options affords the chance to correct past mistakes by not repeating failed past decisions. Our habitual refusal to consciously weigh our options leads us down deadly paths, think of all the "Darwin Award" winners.
I don't laugh at SHTF Preppers: they put forethought into their present, just in case shit happens in their future. SHTF Preppers have stocked pantries and bug-out bags readied with water, food, and shelter for each member of their family. They check their stock/bags with regularity, upgrading, or exchanging goods as needed. For SHTF Preppers, their future-potential needs give direction to their current actions. That kind of forethought is something we all could use more of in our lives. SHTF Preppers, in general, are prepared for natural disasters, man-made disasters (war, etc.), or the zombie apocalypse. As the CDC learned through their Zombie Apocalypse program a dialogue about preparations for one type of disaster is also a dialogue about preparations for other types of disasters.
There's only so much we can do to prepare for disasters and whether we want to admit it or not, finances play a big role in preparation levels. For instance, the rich can afford fully stocked underground bunkers with high-end systems (ventilation, sewage, water) whereas the working poor (after saving up enough money) can afford a bug-out bag and the supplies to fill it. The extremely poor can afford neither, in fact, everyday is a SHTF kind of day for the extremely poor.

FinleyExperience.com is under going site redesign. Please bear with me while I work out the bugs and tweak the appearance.

Global Conflict Discussion (Part 1): Wars & Disasters Kill People
1.) Wars and natural disasters work in tandem to destroy and devestate stationary populations.
"The world is in conflict." That's what we hear from media, celebrities, politicians, neighbors, friends, and family. The "world" is shorthand for the "peoples of the world." The world is not in conflict. The world is in constant flux. The peoples of the world are in conflicts around the world which is in constant flux.
In all areas of the world the potential for constant flux has the ability to devastate people regardless of their current state of conflict. You see, natural disasters have never given a shit about war. Natural disasters are devastating signs of worldwide flux specifically when they wipe out inhabited regions. We tend to fret less when uninhabited regions are demolished through natural processes. It's a human thing. (Are we in the wrong for that, too?).
Face it: birth, life, and death are chaotic experiences.
Think of it: exploding stars impregnate galaxies which birth universes like ours "The Universe". Our universe has one star we call "The Sun"; every star in the sky is a sun, but not "The Sun". Every star, including ours, will die...as in explode. The exploded materials shoot into galaxies, like the Milky Way (our galaxy), where new universes are created. From the detrius of our exploded sun, new universes will be born.
From the phoenix rises the phoenix.
Get it?
We are the product of a cosmic trickle down economy where everything is part of an explosive death-life process. It is the ultimate example of "as above, so below."

0.) Introduction to Global Conflict Discussions (GCD)
Our world is interconnected. We impact and influence eachother in positive and negative ways. We, as a species, cannot afford to ignore the facts of global conflict and the truths of war, terrorism, and the not-so-innocent peoples caught in the crossfire. I've chosen nine topics for this series of Global Conflict Discussions (see the link list at the start of each article); considering the current worldwide situation, I could have chosen any number of related topics.
Through each topic I hope to walk through the murk and mire, to boogie in the swamp, and to light up the bogs; in other words, I hope to illuminate the dark, dank recesses of my own ignorance. You see, I am ignorant. Not so ignorant as some, ignorant nonetheless. If you're confused by my confession of ignorance, then you might not realize that the upcoming articles are opinion pieces. I found that expressing opinions frequently exposes ignorance, so, I'm betting that my own ignorance(s) will be exposed over the course of these opinionated articles.
In GCD1 (short-titled "wars/disasters destroy"), I discuss a different conceptualization of global conflict and define a few terms. In GCD2, I remark on the value of SHTF preppers. GCD3 contains a discussion of the scientific process as a start to solving the world's problems. GCD4 highlights the disturbing truth of trickle down economics when the elite hoard profits. GCD5 questions the motives of politicians and their rallying cry, "yes to austerity." GCD6 explains how the 21st Century internet class system subverted a class system that predates agrian societies. GCD7 discusses childhood actions and adult consequences. In GCD8, I continue with the the childhood analogy to discuss playground retribution. Finally, GCD9 finishes off the playground analogy by comparing the pointlessness of Wars Against [Bullying, Poverty, etc].
The GCD articles will be released weekly, check back each week for the next installment. Or, better yet, hit the RSS feed and get them sent to your RSS reader. As each of the GCD articles are published, the link list at the top of this article will be activated with the live links.
